Finland: Reindeer Victims of Heatwave

A heatwave with record temperatures in Finland has severely impacted reindeer populations. Finland experienced a 22-day heatwave, the longest since 1961.
According to Anne Ollila, director of the National Reindeer Herders' Association, droughts and wildfires caused by the heat have affected reindeer in the Lapland region. Many reindeer have died due to their inability to regulate their body temperature.
In the city of Rovaniemi, also known as Santa Claus Village, temperatures reached 26 degrees Celsius.
