US Coast Guard: Titan Submersible Disaster Could Have Been Prevented

The destruction of the Titan submersible could have been prevented, according to the US Coast Guard, which published a report on the submersible's implosion in 2023 near the Titanic.
The Coast Guard report criticizes OceanGate's operating procedures and states that failure to adhere to technical safety protocols was the main factor in the disaster.
The Titan was made of carbon fiber, a material never before used in deep-sea submersibles and unsuitable for withstanding high pressure.
During a previous dive, passengers had heard a loud bang, which was later found to be delamination.
The report also blames OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush, who, according to the Coast Guard, showed negligence that contributed to the deaths of five people.
The OceanGate Titan submersible embarked on a journey to the wreckage of the Titanic in June 2023 but never returned. All passengers lost their lives.
