Japan: Record Heat in July

Japan recorded its hottest July since 1898, according to the country's Meteorological Agency (JMA). Temperatures were 2.89 degrees Celsius higher than normal for the season, breaking the July 2024 record.
On Wednesday, Japan recorded a historic temperature of 41.2 degrees Celsius in the Hyogo prefecture. The Meteorological Agency warned that the next month is expected to continue to bring intense heat throughout the country.
In addition, July saw scant rainfall in many areas, especially in the north. Scientists confirm that human-caused climate change is making heat waves more intense and frequent.
