India: Five Dead After Torrential Rains in Kashmir

Five people have died in Indian Kashmir due to landslides caused by torrential rains. The floods, triggered by the monsoon, have destroyed bridges, homes, and Hindu temples.
The Press Trust of India (PTI) news agency reported images of mudflows covering bridges and flooding temples. A local official, Omar Abdullah, described the situation in the Jammu region as 'very serious'.
Similar floods hit the city of Darali on August 5th, while on August 14th, the village of Chisoti was also hit, resulting in at least 60 deaths.
Experts point out that climate change and poor spatial planning are exacerbating the effects of monsoons.
