At least 42 people have died in Kenya due to severe flooding, and the Masai Mara National Park has been evacuated. Significant damage has been reported in Nairobi, with visitors being airlifted from the park.

Heavy rainfall caused the Mara and Talek rivers to overflow, leading to precautionary evacuations of camps, according to Mark Goss, CEO of the Mara Elephant Project Trust.

In Nairobi, at least 25 people have died. Police Chief George Seda reported that some victims drowned, while others were electrocuted. The torrential rains began on March 6, causing widespread flooding and submerging vehicles.

A military rescue unit was deployed to assist emergency services. The Secretary General of the Kenyan Red Cross, Ahmed Idris, stated that search and rescue teams are working tirelessly.

Public Administration Minister, Geoffrey Ruku, is coordinating national disaster response efforts.
