Cyprus: Yellow Alert for Extreme Heat, Red Alert for Fires

The Department of Meteorology has issued a yellow alert for extreme high temperatures in Cyprus, effective tomorrow, Friday, from 13:00 to 17:00. The temperature is expected to reach 41 degrees Celsius inland and 32 degrees in the higher mountains.

In addition, the Department of Forests announced that a "Red Alert" for the risk of fires will remain in effect on Friday. The public is urged to be especially careful and avoid actions that may cause a fire. In case of fire, citizens are urged to contact 1407 (Department of Forests) or 112 (Fire Service).
