Cyprus to Host EU Firefighting Hub Actions in April 2026

Cyprus is preparing to host actions in April 2026 related to the establishment of the EU regional hub for better firefighting, according to the Minister of Agriculture, Maria Panayiotou.

European Commissioners acknowledged the need to improve coordination at the EU level. Commissioner for Climate, Wopke Hoekstra, highlighted the creation of a rapid response firefighting team as a positive step.

Commissioner for Environment, Jessica Roswall, emphasized weaknesses in cooperation and the need for urgent action and prevention.
