Cyprus: Leonidas Leonidou's predictions of extreme temperatures

For 65 years, Mr. Leonidas Leonidou has been practicing minallagia in Cyprus, a tradition of observing the sky and weather phenomena from early August to predict the next 12 months.

He learned the art from his grandmother and has been observing minallagia since the age of 10, combining the old and new calendars. Due to climate change, predictions are becoming more difficult, especially with extreme temperatures and humidity.

Mr. Leonidas begins his observations on August 3, completing them towards the end of the month. Speaking to AlphaNews.Live, he expressed confidence that he will achieve at least 90% accuracy in his predictions, despite the challenges of climate change.

He referred to his process, spending at least 15 days of August in Agros, where he records data from early morning. He predicts that in five to ten years, we will see extreme temperatures that may exceed 50 degrees Celsius.

Mr. Leonidas stressed the need to take measures to address climate change, referring to Japan and the measures it has taken.
