Peru: Callao Port Closed After Containers Fall from Ship

The port of Callao, the largest in Peru, was closed for six hours on Friday after approximately 50 containers fell from a ship flying the Taiwanese flag. The incident is attributed to severe rough seas.

Port Captain Amilcar Velasquez stated that port operations have resumed and patrol boats are monitoring the area. He assured that the cargo is not hazardous and will not cause marine pollution.

The ship Ever Lunar, carrying 7,000 containers, was arriving from Panama when the accident occurred.
