Jane Goodall, Pioneering Chimpanzee Researcher, Dies at 91

Jane Goodall, the primatologist and activist renowned for her groundbreaking research on chimpanzees and dedication to environmental conservation, has died at the age of 91. The Jane Goodall Institute announced that she passed away from natural causes in California.
Goodall, who began her career in Africa studying chimpanzees, became a global voice for wildlife conservation and addressing climate change. Her discoveries, such as chimpanzees' use of tools, revolutionized science.
Born in London in 1934, Goodall founded the Jane Goodall Institute in 1977 and traveled tirelessly around the world to raise awareness about environmental issues. She was honored with the title of Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 2003 and the U.S. Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2025.
