Possible Tsunami in Kamchatka After 6.7 Magnitude Earthquake in Kuril Islands

A 6.7 magnitude earthquake struck the Kuril Islands, according to the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ). The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations warned of potential tsunami waves in three areas of the Kamchatka Peninsula.
"The expected wave heights are low, but even in this case, you should move away from the coast," the ministry said in a statement.
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) reported the earthquake's magnitude as 7.0. No tsunami warning was issued after the earthquake.
A few days prior, a powerful 8.8 magnitude earthquake triggered a tsunami in the Kuril Islands, leading to flooding and the evacuation of approximately 2,700 residents.
Additionally, during the night, the Krasheninnikov volcano in Kamchatka became active for the first time in 600 years.
