Portugal: Three Major Forest Fires Underway – Nationwide Alert

Portugal remains on alert due to a high risk of wildfires. Three major forest fires are burning in the northern and central parts of the country.
More than 1,500 firefighters are battling the flames, while hundreds more are on standby. In the north, the fire has been ravaging the Peneda-Geres National Park since Saturday. A new front broke out on Monday in the Arouca region.
Three major fires in central Portugal were brought under control overnight. Authorities are concerned about adverse weather conditions, with strong winds and temperatures up to 40 degrees Celsius.
