Portugal on Alert for Wildfires Amid High Temperatures

Portugal is on alert due to the increased risk of wildfires. Approximately 1,500 firefighters are operating in the northern and central parts of the country to combat three major forest fires.
In the north, the fire in the Peneda-Geres National Park has been raging since Saturday, while the fire in Arouca remains active since Monday. In central Portugal, three major fires were brought under control overnight.
Weather conditions are expected to be unfavorable, with strong winds and temperatures reaching 40°C. All of mainland Portugal, except Faro, is under a yellow warning for a heatwave.
Setúbal is expected to record the highest temperature, reaching 40°C.
