Green light for the first phase of works at Akamas National Forest Park

The Department of Environment has confirmed full compliance with the environmental conditions for the start of the first phase of works at Akamas National Forest Park. It also announces the creation of a daily control and monitoring mechanism.
Following an assessment, the Department of Environment found that the conditions set in the Special Ecological Assessment Report (March 2024) had been implemented and formulated observations for the start of the first phase of works.
The report concluded that full compliance with the relevant conditions could be achieved, taking into account the views of the Department of Forests, the consultant, the competent Bodies and the Departments of Geological Survey and Water Development, as well as the positions expressed in the Ad-hoc committee on April 16, 2025.
To ensure the implementation of the terms, a monitoring mechanism will be established with an environmental inspector who will be on site daily and submit reports to the environmental authority.
