Tehran Closes Public Toilets Due to Water Crisis

Tehran has been forced to close public toilets in the city as part of government measures to address the acute water crisis. This move has sparked strong reactions, with the news outlet Didban Iran criticizing the government for depriving residents of "a basic need."
Eyewitnesses confirm that many public toilets, including those at metro stations, have already been closed. It is estimated that there are approximately 20,000 public toilets in the greater Tehran area.
The energy and water crisis has become a major concern for Iranians. Water supply has been cut off for up to 48 hours in various districts of Tehran and in at least 50 other cities. Power outages exacerbate the problem, especially with high temperatures.
The government under President Masoud Pezeshkian is considering additional measures, such as reducing the work week or closing the capital for a week, to save energy and water. President Pezeshkian describes the situation as a "natural disaster."
