Trump Ends $7 Billion Subsidies for Solar Panels

The Trump administration is terminating a $7 billion subsidy program for installing solar panels in American households. The program, part of Joe Biden's Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), aimed to support over 900,000 families.
Lee Zeldin, head of the EPA, announced the cancellation of the funds, citing the program's “inefficiency.” According to Atlas Public Policy, only $53 million was spent out of the initially planned $7 billion.
Senator Bernie Sanders criticized the decision, arguing that Donald Trump seeks to protect the profits of the oil and gas industry. The Trump administration is taking steps to cancel subsidies for renewable energy sources and facilitate the extraction of hydrocarbons.
