The Donald Trump administration is ending a $7 billion subsidy program for the installation of solar panels, which was established by the Biden administration under the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).

Lee Zeldin, head of the EPA, announced the cancellation via X, citing the program's "inefficiency" and the many "intermediaries."

Senator Bernie Sanders criticized the decision, arguing that Trump seeks to "protect the unashamed profits of his friends in the oil and gas industry."

The Trump administration is taking steps to cancel subsidies for renewable energy projects and facilitate hydrocarbon extraction.
