VIDEO: Wolf rescued from canal near Verona

The Fire Department in Verona, Italy, rescued a wolf that had fallen into a canal near the city. The animal was trapped and found refuge under a metal bridge in the Giuliari artificial canal.

According to the Fire Department, the wolf was unable to climb out. Two teams of firefighters, including a specialized team for water rescues, participated in the rescue operation.

Authorities tranquilized the animal, secured it with ropes and nets, and brought it ashore. Veterinarians examined the wolf, which was handed over to the local police for care until it is ready to return to the wild.
