Shark Attack in Brazil: Woman Bitten While Snorkeling

A video circulating online shows the moment a shark attacked a 36-year-old woman in Brazil while she was snorkeling. The incident occurred during an underwater reef tour in the Fernando de Noronha archipelago.

According to the video, the shark approached the woman and bit her on the thigh. The woman stated that she immediately knew she had been bitten, and a diver had to hit the shark to make it release her.

Following the attack, the woman received first aid from a dermatologist friend and was then taken to a hospital, where she received treatment and was discharged. Photos posted on social media show the wound, which she described as not particularly deep.

The type of shark that attacked, a nurse shark, is not considered a particularly aggressive species.
