Chile: Copper Mine Collapse – One Dead, Five Trapped

At least one worker has died and five are trapped after a collapse in a copper mine in El Teniente, Chile. The collapse was caused by a 4.2 magnitude earthquake that struck the Rancagua region.
The state-owned company CODELCO, which operates the mine, reported that nine other workers were injured, but their lives are not in danger. Rescue operations are underway to locate the trapped workers. CODELCO President Máximo Pacheco stated that there is communication with some of those trapped.
The El Teniente mine is the largest underground copper mine in the world.
