Chile: Copper Mine Collapse – One Dead, Five Missing
Share on:

At least one worker has died and five are missing following a collapse at a copper mine in Chile, according to state-owned company Codelco. The collapse was triggered by an earthquake.

Nine other workers were injured, none critically, after a magnitude 4.2 earthquake struck the El Teniente mine, the world's largest underground copper mine.

The mine is located in the city of Rancagua, about 100 kilometers from the capital Santiago. Rescuers are working to reach those trapped.
