Chios: Over 69,000 Acres Burned

Approximately 70,000 acres have been burned in northern Chios, according to the National Observatory of Athens. The fire has left behind massive destruction to land and property.
The affected areas are dominated by images of burned houses, destroyed forests, and a suffocating atmosphere. Although the situation is improving, the island continues to experience one of the largest natural disasters in its history.
The National Observatory informed that in northwestern Chios, between August 12 and 15, 69,089 acres were burned, according to the latest estimate from the Rapid Mapping service of the European Copernicus environmental monitoring program.
The relevant map with yellow hues shows the areas that have been burned from the start of the fire until 12:12 on Friday, August 15.
