Fire in Alassa, Limassol Under Control

The fire that broke out north of the community of Alassa in the Limassol district has been brought under control, according to the Fire Service. Firefighting forces remain in the area to deal with potential flare-ups, while the causes of the fire are being investigated in cooperation with the Police.
The fire broke out in dry grass and wild vegetation in a difficult-to-access area, with winds hindering extinguishing efforts. Forces from the Department of Forests, Civil Defense, and the KITAS volunteer team participated in the extinguishing operation. Earlier, the Fire Service extinguished a fire in an abandoned building in the Pano Polemidia area.
