Trial postponed in death of 8-year-old girl at Halkidiki camp

The trial for the death of an 8-year-old girl in a swimming pool at a camp in Halkidiki, which occurred in August 2024, has been postponed until October. Six people will stand trial in the Three-Member Misdemeanor Court of Polygyros, facing charges of manslaughter by negligence.
Among the accused are the group leader, the pool lifeguard, the camp leader, and three executives of the company that owned the camp.
The 8-year-old's absence was noticed by her sister after lunch. Later, she was found unconscious in the pool. She was transported to AHEPA Hospital in Thessaloniki, where she was pronounced dead from drowning.
The prosecutor's investigation revealed omissions regarding the safety and security measures for the children, which are causally linked to the death of the minor.
