A 30-year-old man, posing as an accountant, managed to swindle a woman in Athens out of money and jewelry worth over €800,000. According to reports from protothema.gr, the perpetrator, with the help of a 41-year-old accomplice, called the victim on July 9th, claiming there were errors in her tax return.

The 30-year-old demanded that the woman immediately pay him a sum of money to "resolve" the issue. The woman, under the guidance of the scammer, initially handed over €7,000 in cash and jewelry worth €10,000. The next day, the perpetrator contacted her again, demanding more money. The woman deposited an additional €45,700 and jewelry valued at €800,000.

Following the scam, the woman reported the incident to the Filothei-Psychiko Crime Division. Police identified and arrested the 30-year-old on July 16th in Agia Varvara. The motorcycle used by the perpetrator belonged to a man who had handed it over to a garage for repair.
