Apostolos Lytras: First statements after his boat sank – 'The steering wheel didn't work'

Criminal lawyer Apostolos Lytras and his wife, Dora Papadopoulou, had an adventure when their boat ran aground on a reef off Santorini and subsequently sank.

The Coast Guard was immediately alerted and rushed to the scene to assist the couple. Dora Papadopoulou was slightly injured in the collision and needed stitches. Apostolos Lytras was arrested and released, according to the standard procedure.

Apostolos Lytras told the newspaper "Ta Nea" on Wednesday, August 6: "It was night, one engine went out, probably due to bad fuel, I don't know what, the boat went to the left, the steering wheel didn't work and we hit a reef."

A few days before the incident, Apostolos Lytras and his wife were enjoying their vacation on the islands, as seen in photos they had posted on social media.
