Arcadia: Suspended Sentence in 64-Year-Old's Death Case

The Mixed Jury Court of Nafplio imposed a 9-year suspended sentence on a couple for the death of a 64-year-old in Agios Petros, Arcadia. The defendants, Dimitris Kanatas and Athanasia Lourika, were initially charged with intentional homicide, but the charge was reduced to fatal bodily harm.
The incident occurred in the summer of 2024, when 64-year-old Nikos Mastrantonis was beaten to death. According to testimonies, Kanatas claimed that the victim was flirting with his partner, leading to an altercation.
The decision has sparked outrage, with the victim's family stating they will appeal to the justice system. The defendants' lawyer, Ioannis Glykas, stated that he will continue the legal battle in the Court of Appeal.
