Prosecutor Seeks Guilty Verdict for Psomiadis in '45s' Case

The prosecutor has requested a guilty verdict for the former Prefect of Thessaloniki, Panagiotis Psomiadis, in the case of the '45s' of the Thessaloniki Prefecture, concerning the period 2005-2010.
According to the indictment, P. Psomiadis is accused of dividing projects into smaller ones, worth up to 45,000 euros, in order to assign them through direct assignments and quick tenders to specific contractors.
The prosecutor is seeking the conviction of P. Psomiadis for breach of trust, moral authorship of breach of trust, and false certification, at the felony level. She is also recommending the conviction of four department heads of the Technical Services Directorate for breach of trust.
In addition to the '45s', which involve 456 projects, the indictment also includes employee project contracts, with a total damage to the State exceeding 6 million euros. Appeals Prosecutor Ioanna Katsi spoke of 'complete opacity' in the execution of the projects.
P. Psomiadis denies the charges, claiming that there was no damage or fraud and that he is being politically persecuted.
