The Hellenic Police (ELAS) is investigating two unsolved past crimes in an effort to find the motive for the murder of Manolis Vrontakis in Nea Peramos.

Authorities are examining similarities with the murder of Christos Gialias, who was shot with a Kalashnikov, and the case of a 27-year-old Albanian who was found murdered in Skourta, Viotia in November 2025. In both cases, the perpetrators used similar methods.

In the case of the Albanian, the victim was found tied up and charred inside a car, having been shot in the head. As in the case of Manolis Vrontakis, the perpetrators used a stolen vehicle with fake license plates. The vehicles had been stolen from Northern Greece.

ELAS believes that the case refers to mafia methods and is investigating underworld circles.
