The Hellenic Police (ELAS) conducted over 24,000 inspections of nightclubs, leading to 140 indictments in the last three months. According to ELAS spokesperson Konstantia Dimoglidou, the inspections aim to enforce legislation regarding the sale of alcohol to minors.

Ms. Dimoglidou emphasized the obligation of owners to request identification to verify the age of customers, reminding them that the prohibition of alcohol sales to minors also applies to kiosks and mini-markets.

According to the president of POEDIN, Michalis Giannakos, 350 minors have been hospitalized in Attica hospitals due to alcohol consumption.

The legislation stipulates the presentation of a document to certify age when purchasing alcohol or tobacco products. Violators face fines and, in case of recurrence, revocation of the operating license.

There is also a mandatory notification to the Hellenic Police of private events with minors in entertainment venues.
