Investigation into the Death of Two Inmates in Korydallos Prison

An investigation is underway into the circumstances surrounding the deaths of two inmates in Korydallos Prison. The two men had been participating in a rehabilitation program since early March, in collaboration with the National Organisation for Prevention and Treatment of Addictions (EOPAE).

The General Secretariat of Anti-Crime Policy (G.G.A.P.) announced that the competent prosecutor's office has been informed and that autopsies and toxicological examinations have been ordered to determine the causes of death.

According to the G.G.A.P. announcement, following the incident, medical personnel and a team from EOPAE visited the prison. Checks on program participants did not reveal any issues related to the administration of the therapeutic treatment. The therapeutic programs are implemented with medical monitoring and in accordance with established protocols.

The preliminary investigation is being conducted by the local Police Department.
