Samaria Gorge: French Tourist Injured – Overnight Rescue Operation

A French tourist was injured in the Samaria Gorge in Chania, Crete, triggering an overnight rescue operation. The Fire Service was notified on Sunday evening, and a search and rescue team was immediately mobilized.
The operation involved six firefighters and members of the Mountain Rescue Team (O.O.E.D.) of the 3rd E.M.A.K. The injured man was found in an inaccessible location near Agia Roumeli.
After being located, the tourist was transported by boat to the port of Chora Sfakion and from there by ambulance to the hospital. The operation was completed in the early hours of Monday.
The Fire Service issued a statement regarding the incident, confirming the successful completion of the rescue.
