Florina: Cafe Owner Beats 42-Year-Old for "Protection" Money

A 54-year-old cafe-bar owner in Florina was arrested after allegedly beating a 42-year-old man who was demanding money for "protection".

The incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday. The 42-year-old visited the establishment and, according to police, attempted to extort the owner, demanding money to "protect" the business.

The owner allegedly struck the 42-year-old with a wooden club on the head and other parts of the body, causing him bodily harm. The 42-year-old was taken to Florina General Hospital.

Both men were arrested. The 42-year-old is accused of attempted extortion, while the 54-year-old is accused of causing bodily harm and violating the law on weapons. The case is being investigated by the Florina Crime Prosecution and Investigation Department.
