A 59-year-old man from Lokrida has been sentenced to 18 months in prison after threatening his sister-in-law and her minor children with a knife. The Lamia Misdemeanor Court imposed the sentence on the man.

The incident occurred on Saturday night (August 23) when the 59-year-old visited the family's home brandishing a knife and threatening the victims. According to lamiareport.gr, he allegedly shouted: "Get out, I'll slaughter you and your children. I'll take all three of you in a coffin."

His sister-in-law testified that she feared for her safety and the safety of her children, as it was not the first time the 59-year-old had behaved in this way. She further stated that he had been hospitalized in a psychiatric institution and used substances. Police arrested the perpetrator after a call.

The 59-year-old pleaded remorseful in court but claimed that his sister-in-law manages his money and does not allow him access to it, even his disability pension. The court found him guilty of domestic threat, arms possession, and use of weapons. In addition to the prison sentence, he was fined 800 euros, and no suspension was granted on the appeal, resulting in him being sent to prison.
