A 65-year-old woman in Heraklion was scammed after a stranger posing as an accountant convinced her to hand over her jewelry with the promise of a fake 'gold jewelry allowance'.

According to Creta24.gr, the scammer called the 65-year-old on 20/02, claiming to be an accountant and that she needed to register her jewelry to receive an 'allowance'. The woman was convinced and handed over her jewelry box to a stranger who showed up at the meeting.

When she realized she would not receive any allowance, she reported the incident to the police. Authorities are investigating the case.
