Heraklion: Worker Found Dead in Sewage Tank

A tragic workplace accident occurred in the Dafnes area of Heraklion, where a worker lost his life. The worker, a member of a contractor's crew responsible for cleaning the biological treatment plant, under unclear circumstances fell into a sewage tank.

According to cretalive, the man, approximately 55 years old and of Albanian origin, was performing work in the area and was initially reported missing. A colleague notified the Fire Department when he searched for him for some time and saw the tank lid open, as reported by creta24.

Ten firefighters with three vehicles rushed to the scene, and with the help of a tanker truck, located the worker inside the tank. The man was pulled out unconscious and taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The causes of death will be investigated by autopsy, while the preliminary investigation is underway by the competent authorities, according to In.gr.
