Strong Explosion in Thessaloniki Apartment Building – Investigation for Terrorist Attack

A strong explosion occurred in an apartment building in Thessaloniki in the early hours of Saturday (July 26), on Makedonomachon 19 street.

A man and a woman were slightly injured by broken glass and taken to Ippokratio Hospital. The explosion caused extensive material damage to the apartment building and adjacent buildings, as well as to cars.

Fire and police forces rushed to the scene. According to reports, the president of the federation of prison employees resides in the apartment building. The Hellenic Police (EL.AS.) is investigating the possibility of a terrorist attack.
