Josephine: Grandmother's beach death prompts lifeguard response

Difficult hours for Josephine, as her grandmother, Eirini Wendel, 91, drowned on a beach in Porto Rafti on Sunday, August 31st.

Bathers found Eirini Wendel unconscious in Agios Spyridonas and called EKAV.

A lifeguard from a nearby beach stated that together with two doctors, they tried to revive her with CPR and a defibrillator for 25 minutes, but were unsuccessful.

Josephine's grandmother was transferred to Asklipieio Voulas, where her death was confirmed. The Markopoulo Coast Guard is investigating the incident.

Josephine was baptized Christian in 2019 by her grandmother, and they had a special relationship.
