A criminal organization in Crete that smuggled ammunition from Albania has been dismantled. According to the Hellenic Police (EL.AS.), over 20,000 rounds were seized during an operation in Chania and Kastoria.
A total of 5 people were arrested, including the 65-year-old leader of the organization, a 73-year-old, a 72-year-old, and a 41-year-old Albanian national. An additional 30-year-old was arrested for purchasing cartridges.
The organization had been operating since at least April 2025, illegally importing and distributing large quantities of ammunition on the Cretan market. Members used a truck with a hidden compartment and took measures to avoid detection.
