Coast Guard Investigates Identity of Girl Found at EDEM Beach

The Coast Guard is reviewing security camera footage from EDEM beach and the surrounding coastal area in an effort to identify a young girl found dead. The unfortunate girl was discovered last Sunday in Palaio Faliro.

Authorities, in cooperation with the Saronikos Coast Guard, the Floisvos Coast Guard Department, and the Directorate of Security of Maritime Borders, re-examined the area and took statements from swimmers and employees. Video footage has also been requested from security cameras of shops and from the tram.

Investigations are also continuing in migrant accommodation facilities, focusing on Malakasa, while the scenarios under consideration include negligence, criminal cover-up, and even illegal entry and trafficking of people. The little girl, about three years old, was wearing a turquoise swimsuit and had short brown hair. According to the forensic report, the cause of death was drowning.

Questions remain unanswered, as there has been no missing person report and no one has identified the child.
