Maria Christina: Moving appeal regarding Laura's disappearance

Maria Christina has made an appeal to 16-year-old Laura, who disappeared from Patras on January 8, through a video published by The Smile of the Child. Maria Christina urges Laura to call 1056.

Maria Christina referred to her personal experience and how she was in a similar position at the age of 15. At that time, she had decided to leave her home due to a bad environment. As she said, she found the strength to call 1056 and ask for help.

In the video's caption, The Smile of the Child states: "Laura, I'm talking to you because I was once in your position. There are people who can protect you, listen to you and really help you. Laura, you can save your life. Take the step I was late to take. Call 1056."

Social worker Stavroula Spyropoulou stressed that every disappearance of a minor causes concern and the first hours are crucial. Also, the Amber Alert mechanism was activated.

Experts emphasize that knowing about the existence of the European line 116000 and communicating with specialized agencies can be life-saving.
