Milan: 24-year-old trapped in bank vault

A 24-year-old Bangladeshi national was arrested in Milan after being trapped inside a bank vault. Italian authorities found him in the early hours of Friday (20/2).

The young man had entered the vault during bank opening hours, unnoticed, with the intention of emptying the safe deposit boxes. No one noticed his presence even when the branch closed.

The fire department and carabinieri's rescue operation was complex and completed at approximately 6 a.m. Rescuers had to break into a safe to get the vault keys, and the vault lock was damaged.

He has been charged with attempted aggravated theft and was arrested in flagrante delicto.
