Dead Girl in Palaio Faliro: Mother to Face Prosecutor

The mother of the three-year-old girl found dead in Palaio Faliro is being brought before the prosecutor today. The Algerian national was arrested in connection with the child's death.

The woman claims that the child was injured in the bathroom and, fearing her illegal stay in the country, abandoned her in the sea. Previously, she had come to the attention of the authorities in 2022 for child endangerment. The father allegedly has a history of abuse.

Coast Guard and homicide officers are investigating the family's apartment in Kato Patisia. Slippers, photo albums, and SD memory cards have been seized, which will be examined in the forensic laboratories. The 32-year-old's statement has not been completed, and unanswered questions remain about the time of the child's death.

The two minor boys of the family are expected to be transferred to a juvenile protection facility.
