OPEKEPE Scandal: Three Defendants Released on Bail

Three defendants in the OPEKEPE (Paying Authority of Common Agricultural Policy) scandal have been released on bail. The testimonies of the remaining defendants are ongoing at the former Evelpidon School courts before an investigator of the European Public Prosecutor's Office in Athens.
Specifically, a father and son were released, who allegedly claimed that they received subsidies without knowing that they had been granted irregularly. The father was additionally imposed a bail of 20,000 euros.
The mother of the alleged ringleader of the scheme, Myron Chiletzakis, was also released with a travel ban and bail of 60,000 euros.
The charges faced by the 15 defendants include forming and participating in a criminal organization, fraud related to subsidies, fraud against the financial interests of the EU and the Greek state, and money laundering.
