A 25-year-old is testifying today, Monday, August 18th, before the Patras investigator regarding arson in the Gerokomeio area of Patras. Authorities are examining photographic and video material showing him in the area.

The defendant's lawyers, Mr. Christopoulos and Mr. Kapotas, deny any involvement and emphasize that their client was in the area as a volunteer to extinguish the fire. They claim that two witnesses have already testified under oath that he actively participated in the extinguishing effort, and a third deposition is expected.

Furthermore, the lawyers state that the Fire Department's report shows that the fire was caused by the phenomenon of 'spotting' (transmission of embers) and not by human action. The lawyers acknowledge the extent of the damage, but emphasize that assigning responsibility should not be at the expense of innocent citizens who rushed to help.
