Piraeus: 560 kg of Cannabis Seized, Arrests in Sofia

Cooperation between the Narcotics Division and Bulgarian authorities led to the dismantling of a drug ring and the arrest of three members in Sofia, following the seizure of 560 kg of raw cannabis in a container in Piraeus.

The operation was carried out in collaboration with the Smuggling Department of the 3rd Customs Directorate of Piraeus on July 29, 2025, during an inspection of containers from North America. 810 packages of cannabis, weighing a total of 559 kg, were found in the container, which had arrived on July 17. The shipment had originated from Canada and was destined for Bulgaria.

Following a request from the Narcotics Division, a controlled transfer of part of the seized quantity was carried out, resulting in the arrest of the three individuals involved in Sofia as they attempted to collect the drugs. The case file has been submitted to the competent prosecutor's office.
