A two-year prison sentence was imposed on a 60-year-old junior high school principal in Serres for gagging a 13-year-old student with adhesive tape. The Serres Single-Member Misdemeanor Court found her guilty of illegal violence and bodily harm.

According to the complaint, the principal initially asked the student's sister to put tape on his mouth because he was making noise. When she refused, the principal did it herself and allegedly had a classmate tie his hands. The school's philologist found the student tied up and released him.

The principal claimed in court that she did it as a joke and that the student did not object. The sentence can be redeemed for ten euros per day.
