Corruption Scandal at Mavromati Customs: Investigation into Half a Million Euro Profits

A corruption scandal has been uncovered at the Mavromati Customs Office in Thesprotia, with 13 customs officials arrested. The charges include bribery, extortion, participation in a criminal organization, and dereliction of duty.

An investigation by the Internal Affairs Division of the Security Forces revealed systematic activity by the ring, which allegedly made illegal profits of 456,878 euros from January 2023 to July 2025.

The Authority for Combating Money Laundering has ordered the seizure of assets of the 14 individuals involved, and the financial prosecutor's office is closely monitoring the case. Further arrests are possible.
