A shocking discovery has been made in the Bosphorus: the body of Russian swimmer Nikolai Svecnikov was found disfigured. The 29-year-old athlete had been missing since August.

Svecnikov's body was found without a head, arms, or legs, as confirmed by Istanbul police. The body was identified through DNA testing by the Russian consulate.

Svecnikov participated in a swimming race between Asia and Europe on August 24. The Turkish Olympic Committee had reported his disappearance after the race. Authorities are investigating the circumstances of his death.

The family's lawyer expects progress in the investigation and is considering claiming compensation from the organizers.
