Souda Bay: Polish Man Charged with Espionage Appears Before Prosecutor

A Polish man arrested in Souda Bay, Crete, on Friday (13/3) on espionage charges has appeared before the prosecutor. The suspect allegedly photographed ships at the naval base and sent the photos to Poland.
According to protothema.gr, the man was traveling in the area in a white van converted into a camper, drawing the attention of authorities. A search of the van revealed a laptop, a tablet, and a USB stick, while photos of ships and aircraft from the base were found on his mobile phone.
The suspect denies the charges. Authorities find it suspicious that the man was in the Marathi area in previous years, from October to early spring. This is the third arrest for espionage in Souda Bay in recent months, following the arrests of an Azerbaijani and a Georgian national.
